XNFM has obtained an Attestation of Conformity to Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 — the regulation that replaces Directive 2006/42/EC and becomes mandatory on 20 January 2027. We are certified ahead of the deadline, so our European customers can plan without a compliance cliff.

The legal basis for placing machinery on the EU market is changing. Directive 2006/42/EC — the "Machinery Directive" that has governed CE marking of machinery for well over a decade — is being repealed and replaced by Regulation (EU) 2023/1230. The regulation was adopted on 14 June 2023 and published in the Official Journal on 29 June 2023.

The critical dates:

There is no dual-application grace period. The two legal texts do not overlap. Once 20 January 2027 arrives, machinery placed on the EU market must satisfy the new regulation — there is no option to keep using the directive.

If you are sourcing bulk solids valves from outside the EU, this date is not an abstract legal detail — it directly affects whether your supplier can legally ship to you.

A supplier whose CE documentation only references the old directive will face a compliance gap from 20 January 2027. For the buyer, that can mean delayed shipments, re-documentation costs, or having to re-qualify a new supplier mid-project.

Because our attestation is already issued against Regulation (EU) 2023/1230, XNFM customers avoid that cliff entirely. This is particularly relevant for OEMs, integrators and plant builders who specify valves into machines with a multi-year delivery and service life.

Beyond the change of legal instrument, the new regulation introduces several substantive shifts that affect how machinery documentation is prepared and how valves are specified into systems:

Note on EN ISO 4414: this is the standard that most closely governs pneumatically actuated valves. It addresses the design of pneumatic control systems, pressure regulation, safe exhaust and the behaviour of components under fault conditions — exactly the areas that determine whether a valve fails safely in a conveying system.
