A flap diverter valve, also called a 3-way diverter valve or three-way diverter valve, is a bulk solids valve used to redirect dry powder or granular material from one conveying line into two alternative destinations. It is a core component in pneumatic conveying systems where production lines must share a single supply source or distribute material to multiple receivers.

Unlike plug or ball diverters, the flap type uses a flat sealing plate that swings inside a Y-shaped or L-shaped housing. When the actuator moves the flap, material is guided smoothly into the selected outlet with minimal turbulence and pressure loss.

The XNFM VAB flap diverter valve is built around a 22.5° pipe angle. A 304 stainless steel flap is hinged inside a cast aluminum alloy body and sealed against a food-grade EPDM rubber seat. When the pneumatic, electric or manual actuator receives a signal, the flap rotates to one of two positions, opening one outlet while sealing the other.

Because the flap sweeps across the bore rather than pushing material through a narrow port, the valve handles abrasive powders — such as cement, fly ash, flour, plastic pellets and battery materials — without jamming or excessive wear.
